The Right of Ingress and Egress

The Right of Ingress and Egress explores ideas of limitations and privilege in how we move in and out of spaces. As tape is a frequent tool to help navigate visitors in a gallery or museum, the work looks to have visitors question how they are allowed to view the exhibition. It challenges the unspoken rules of museum etiquette and systematic surveillance in BIPOC communities. The composition of the tape installation on the floor varies every time it is shown at a new location. I consult with the curator to review the exhibition floor plan to then draft the tape installation.
